My timeline was filled with people gushing over how emotional the film was, making them believe in true love et al. For someone that looks like Farhan Akhtar, he sure as hell lacks the talent to be like him. For Shakti Kapoor’s daughter, that’s a pretty big deal. She has a fragile beauty with vulnerability. For a debut, this was actually a pretty decent performance, not taking into account that she agreed to say a lot of stupid dialogues. Oddly enough, all the songs start sounding the same once you listen to them too much. Like Aashiqui, this film had absolutely nothing to offer except a good soundtrack, composed by Jeet Ganguli, Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari. The film ends predictably with Rahul not wanting to get in the way of Aarohi and her dreams. Aarohi helps him yet again, with the intention of letting go of the singing career she tried so hard to get. He runs into a journalist who provokes him to get drunk, beat him up and get sent to prison.

Rahul, now sober, goes to watch Aarohi perform. This goes on until her manager finds her and convinces her to get back to work. Once again, Aarohi helps him this time, by sacrificing her career and taking him away from the city. He drinks away the pain, getting back to his addiction. He tries to get back to singing, but to no avail as the liquor has ruined his voice. Having fallen in love with him as well, Aarohi decides to help him. So instead of kicking his habit, he decides to leave her. An unfortunate circumstance convinces Rahul that he is destroying Aarohi’s life by being in it as an alcoholic. He mentors her and establishes her as a singer, all while falling madly in love with her. He meets Aarohi (Shraddha Kapoor), a bar singer in Goa, and promises to take her to Mumbai and make her dreams of becoming a singing sensation true. With sequels produced by the Bhatt camp, however, there’s one more common factor: they’re godawful.ĭirected by Mohit Suri, Aashiqui 2, is the story of an alcoholic musician, Rahul (Aditya Roy Kapoor) who is on the verge of destroying his career due to his addiction.

The only similarity Bollywood sequels have to their successor is the title of the film. Either way, there is some relevance to the prequels. While Hollywood sequels either take the story forward from where they left off in the preceding film, or use the same characters to create another plot.

I recommend it as a one-time watch.įor legal download of Aashiqui 2 songs, visit Hello.Bollywood, as far as I’ve seen, has a very different take on sequels than Hollywood. It deserves the 3.5 stars I’ve given it, no more and no less. Overall, Aashiqui 2 is an engaging 2 hour 15 minutes of romantic drama.
Aashiqui 2 plot movie#
Ankit Tiwari’s “Sunn Raha Hai na” and other songs by Shreya Ghoshal will be long remembered in the industry after this movie leaves the silver screen. Arijit Singh’s “Tum hi ho” is already a hit, and has won hearts all over. The songs are the soul of the movie, pulling the audience through a slow second half. The movie relies on a good storyline, and its hit songs. However, both actors fail at giving an impressionable performance. Aditya also puts a decent effort to make the movie a success. Shraddha makes an impressive debut with Aashiqui 2, engaging the audience with her charm. While Rahul fights his alcoholism and struggles through his career, Arohi rises to fame and constantly tries to pull Rahul out of his miseries.

The plot twists and turns and takes its audience through the dark side of fame, money, stardom and alcoholism. He plays an alcoholic trying to redeem himself by helping out a small-town bar singer, Arohi, to fame. The story starts with Rahul Jaikar, played by Aditya Roy Kapoor as a failing star from the world of singing. The sequel lives upto its expectations, and I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. The director, Mohit Suri, makes an effort to match the prequel and keep alive the romance of Aashiqui. With the first half packed with twists and turns and keep-you-on-the-edge drama, the movie plot turns serious in the second half and keeps the audience hooked on for more. One of the movies to watch out for this month is Aashiqui 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Salil Acharya.
